Team size: 5 - 20

Description:

Greater Auckland is home to 35 regional parks, open for all the community to enjoy - making the most of the great outdoors and the natural flora and fauna of Aotearoa. Awhitu Regional Park includes parkland pastures, regenerating wetlands with fernbirds and banded rail and safe, sandy beaches, perfect habitat for wading bird species at low tide. The Ngāti Te Ata and Ngāti Kahukoka people originally occupied the Äwhitu Peninsula. Their descendents still maintain strong links to this land, with marae located in and around Waiuku. English immigrants John and Sarah Brook built the Brook Homestead in 1878 and it remains a central feature of the park.

This project involves various tasks to maintain the natural beauty of the park - including picking up litter and oyster shells from the main beach, laying or maintaining tracks and general maintenance of the parkland area. Come and enjoy working in the outdoors in this stunning environment in order to help provide a clean, waste-free beach and park for visitors and wildlife to enjoy.
