Description:
Volunteers will be guided in a gym style limber-up before starting on this physically demanding conservation task with a big focus on functional movement and pumped up biodiversity outputs.
Volunteers will use mattocks and sharp spades to remove environmental weeds, or clear up litter. You don’t need a massive frame for this task but you do need a strong cardiovascular system and good stamina. It’s a little bit technical too, so you get better at it as you work away. Get in touch if you fancy having a go at this – 2 hours or so is enough for most people and groups of ten work very well so we can rotate the tools. Honestly, you will love it. We can mix it up for your team so there is a range of tasks for you and a longer day if required.
By participating in this volunteering opportunity you are helping achieve our goal of ridding the Rosebank Peninsula of weeds like moth vine and elephant grass – touted as the fastest growing plant in the world, capable of over 7cm of growth a day, we need to move fast to stop it swamping our native bush.
By participating in this volunteering opportunity you are helping achieve the following United Nations Sustainability Goals ;
Goal 13 - Climate action
Goal 15 - Life on land
