Description:
Auckland's original food rescue charity. We’re a climate-friendly solution to food insecurity in our home community. Our drivers are out every morning collecting surplus food from supermarkets, growers and manufacturers which is brought back to the Hub for volunteers to hand-sort.
After an induction, you’ll learn what is ‘fit to eat, fit to cook and fit to compost'. You’ll sort around 2 tonnes of fresh kai which will be shared through 50 charities across Auckland. In 2023, we welcomed 2,095 volunteers and provided 599,028 kgs of nutritious kai to our local community.
Every kg of food we save from landfill can make three meals for someone who needs them. Hunger is in our backyard, and we are grateful to the people who want to help.
KOHA/COST: $200 per team payable directly to the charity.
We value the support of organisations who give up their time, however this does come at a cost to us as a charity. Our volunteer manager works directly with the group ensuring they receive the necessary training and support to stay safe in our warehouse and make the most out of their team volunteering session.
