Orchard Working Bee With Our Awesome Youth

Location: 630c Great South Road, Ellerslie, Auckland 1051 with transport to our orchard in Kumeu
Availability: TBA on booking through Volunteering Auckland
Team size: 5 - 10

Description:

Our Kaupapa is "Life changing experiences for young people with disabilities". We do this through the provision of quality adventure, recreation, social and education programmes. One of our opportunities include work experience via our MOXIE programmes. This educational arm equips people with the skills needed to pursue work, connection, and an increased sense of belonging. We believe employment plays as a tangible role in the representation of independence, financial autonomy, wellbeing, and social inclusion.

To support our Moxie team, your team can spend a day outdoors working alongside our youth in our Lemon Orchard as they build independence.
Tasks include:
• Weed Eating/mowing
• Mulching garden waste
• Serious weeding around trees (you might want to train for this!)
• Layering mulch around trees
• Digging out old lemon trees that have sadly passed away
• Planting new trees
• Conversing, guiding, learning from and potentially competing in an orchard dance-off

Wednesday 9am-4pm. Please email to inquire for an available Wednesday to volunteer. Meet at 630c Great South Rd, Ellerslie. Transport to and from Kumeu provided and sunscreen! Otherwise, on-street parking available (outside the orchard driveway).
