Ongoing support for pest animal traps

Location: Albany, North Shore
Availability: Any time that suits participants on booking through Volunteering Auckland
Team size: 5 - 20

Description:

Fancy going for a walk through some stunning natural bush areas once a month? Walking for a purpose could be your new motivation for getting those steps up and topping up your mental health bucket as you connect to nature. You could have a friendly competition with your colleagues, who catches the most?

Rather than a blitz event for half a day, we would love to hear from groups that are keen to give smaller but ongoing commitments.

A vital part of our work is controlling the number of pest animals out in the environment and we have what we call "trap lines" set up in reserves across the Upper Harbour area. We are always keen to hear from people who are happy to set up a roster to check the traps for catches, add in more bait and set the traps for the next "visitor". Once weekly checks on a roster with one or two people going along each time really helps spread the work.

We will give you full training and all the resources you need. Of course if your organisation would like to sponsor the installation of the equipment as well that would mean that we can achieve even more.
