Community Gardening

Location: Ponsonby, Auckland
Availability: Weekdays
Team size: 3 - 15

This organisation manages a city farm and organic community garden in South Ponsonby, dedicated to building a healthy community and promoting sustainable living in a city environment.

Not only is this a bustling community garden providing an abundance of produce for the community to enjoy, but it is also a place to educate people about organic gardening and produce.

Your team will be working in the gardens, maintaining the garden beds, weeding, making compost, pruning and planting. For those with less green fingers, there are also tasks needed cleaning up the glasshouse, shop and lunch room which is also indoors.

Your team can enjoy being in this beautiful outdoor space while getting your hands dirty.

By participating in this volunteering opportunity you are helping achieve the following United Nations Sustainability Goals ;

Goal 3 - Good health and well-being
Goal 10 - Reduced inequalities
Goal 11 - sustainable cities and communities
Goal 12 - Responsible consumption and production
Goal 13 - Climate action
Goal 14- Life below water
Goal 15 - Life on land

The best part of the day was the shared lunch. The work was tough but satisfying. The garden is well equipped for volunteers and had good facilities.
We enjoyed being able to give back to the community and use our volunteer day.
